An Old Soul Meets a Pioneer, a Poem

An old soul meets a pioneer,

becoming friends for two whole years.

The pioneer always wanting more,

while the old soul was keeping score.

Of all the moments that added up,

and when they had filled the other’s cup.

Taking small chances with each other,

a safe place to land they did discover.

Sometimes people just fit together,

like a puzzle scene of blooming heather.

They are similar in their hearts’ desire,

choosing choices that take them higher.

Always having each other’s back,

making up for what one might lack.

Their differences fill in all the gaps,

one of them really loves naps.

While the other one worries too much,

the sleepy one soothes him with her touch.

A strong vision mixed with an artist’s eye,

creates a powerful team that can fly.

But the best part of their union to see,

they both know, I’m loved for all of me.

Not hiding any part of who they are,

and helping the other be a bright star.

My wish for you my pioneer son,

to see that you have already won.

A beautiful soul from the past,

like dried flowers, may your love Everlast!

Expand, Contract, Repeat

A heart expands, surging rife

A heart contracts, renewing life

Lungs expand, breathing new

Lungs contract, air passing through

A mind expands, exchanging thoughts

A mind contracts, with fear and plots

A soul expands, during physical death

A soul contracts, becoming a new breath

The universe expands, with a big bang of stars

The universe contracts, in a black hole bazaar
