When I Became a Mother, It Was No Longer an Option to Play Small
It seems like most of the great things in my life have stemmed from being a mother. Sometimes it can be hard to know what the best choice is, but if you focus on what’s really important to you, it becomes a little clearer. Hands down, my son, is the most important thing to me. I have struggled with low self-esteem my whole life, and with this struggle comes not always loving myself enough to take the healthy path. However, love for your child is a powerful teacher.
When I became a mother, it was no longer an option to play small. His love has given me the courage to change and grow, express myself and share my gifts. My first priority to him as a mother is to show him that you can be happy by believing in your dreams, persisting in your passions and loving like the world could end today. I need to show him how to love yourself, mistakes and all. How do I love myself? By being quiet enough to really hear that little voice inside (which is actually screaming) and then honor it by taking action.
